Dear Colleagues in Christ,
I am writing in celebration of the work and service of lay people within the California-Nevada Annual Conference.
One of the very special moments at Annual Conference is announcing the recipient of the Bishop's Award. Each year I will seek to present this award to a layperson that has demonstrated outstanding service both in their local church and beyond the local church. Service beyond the local church may be in the annual conference, the general church, the local community or beyond. I invite the lay and clergy of this conference to lift up people deserving this recognition.
For this year’s annual conference session I am asking that nominations for the award be submitted to my office by March 30, 2011. They should include a short narrative on how the person is living as a disciple engaged in transforming the world and those qualities that bring the nominee forth as a leader among us. Those nominations should be limited to one or two pages. Remember, their service must include both service in the local church and beyond the local church.
The Bishop’s Award will be presented during the annual conference for all of us to celebrate the achievements, dedication and service. The award recipient will not be announced until annual conference and please remember that the recipients selected are to be surprised by this nomination.
You may submit your nominations to: Bishop Warner H. Brown, PO Box 980250, West Sacramento, CA 95798.
Thank you for your help in celebrating ministry.
Your Brother in Christ,
Warner H. Brown, Jr.
Resident Bishop
