Legislation Outcomes (tracking report)
The report shows what happened with each piece of legislation which was before the 2010 Annual Conference Session: An "x" in the "YES" column denotes passage; an "x" in the "NO" column signifies that the item did not pass. If item is marked "consent" it was approved as part of the Consent Calendar; numbers show the vote in the section which considered the item and placed it on the Consent Calendar. The "FOLLOW-UP" column indicates the party or parties responsible for action(s) as a result of passage of an item.

Bishop's Award
(June 17, 2010) The first Bishop's Award of the 2010 Annual Conference Session has been presented to David Haynes, Lay Leader of the Shasta District.

Bishop's Award
(June 18, 2010) The second Bishop's Award of the 2010 Annual Conference Session has been presented to Billie Hall of Smith River United Methodist Church. Since Ms. Hall was not able to attend the Annual Conference Session, Bishop Brown spoke with her through a telephone conference call which was broadcast to the assembly. Her pastor, the Rev. Steve Pudinski, accepted the award on her behalf.


Item 8, regarding the number of districts in the California-Nevada Annual Conference, has been approved.

Item 9, regarding suspension of Division V of the Standing Rules, has been approved.

Item 39, Discontinuation of Hamilton United Methodist Church in San Francisco, has been approved (528 to 155, based on a count of hands raised).

Item 14, Recommendation to Change Minimum Compensation Rules, has been tabled. 

Item 38, Minimum Compensation REcommended Schedule: 2011, has been tabled.

A count vote was taken on a motion to refer Item 10 (Recommendation for Registration Fee for Annual Conference Session) back to the Commission on the Annual Conference Session with instruction to re-submit the recommendation in 2011 with the following revision: that churches which pay 100% of their Apportionments be exempt from a registration fee. The motion to refer was approved.

Item 18, Recommendation to Sell Golden Gate District Parsonage, has been approved.

The 2011 budget has been adopted.


The 2010 Melvin Talbert Award for Racial Justice has been presented to Dr. Lucia Ann ("Shan") McSpadden.

The 2010 Frances Asbury Award for Campus Ministry has been presented to Dr. Carolyn Talmadge.

The 2010 Suk Chong Yu Scholarship awards have been presented to Heather Wells and Susan Kopp.

Bishop's Award
(June 18, 2010) The third Bishop's Award of the 2010 Annual Conference Session has been presented to Mollie Epperson of Visalia United Methodist Church.


Item 21, Resolution on Humane 2010-2011 California State Budget, has been approved as amended on the floor to include the State of Nevada. 

Item 30, Support Self-Determination and Independence to the People of East Turkistan, has been approved.

Item 37, Recommendation to Support Stop the Laiban Dam Project in the Tanay Rizal, Philippines, has been approved. 

Item 3, Proposal to Direct-Bill Active Clergy Pension Costs, has been approved on a (counted) show of hands, 365 to 129.

Item 4, Recommendation From the Conference Board of Pensions Re: Updating Division IX of the Conference Standing Rules, has been approved.

Bishop's Award
(June 19, 2010) The fourth Bishop's Award of the 2010 Annual Conference Session has been presented to Haati Nai of Salinas UMC.

Item 27, Resolution Regarding Peace With Justice Actions and Sunday Observances, has been approved.

Item 28, Resolution of Public Financing of Election Campaigns, has been approved on a vote of 266 to 215.

Item 34, Recommendation Regarding Discontinuation of Dunsmuir UMC, has been approved. 

Item 32, Recommendation Regarding Local Church Coordinator, has been approved.
